A cytochrome P-450 (heme-thiolate) protein. The enzyme from the plant Glycyrrhiza uralensis (licorice) is involved in the biosynthesis of the triterpenoid saponin glycyrrhizin. The enzyme from the plant Medicago truncatula can also hydroxylate beta-amyrin.
